LEWIS RUN — A group of local students from Bradford Area High School recently had a great opportunity to search for the answer to the question: “What kind of employment opportunities are available in the powdered metal industry in our region?”
Keystone Powdered Metal Co. of Lewis Run hosted its second annual Manufacturing Day on Friday. Manufacturing Day is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers.
Officials said Bradford High students learned of the history, goals, products and future of Keystone Powdered Metal from management and employees of the company, followed by an extensive tour of the modern advanced manufacturing facility.
Students also learned about the variety of jobs available at the facility, including accounting, environmental safety, site improvement personnel, plant maintenance, logistics and production positions. They also learned of the expansion that is currently taking place and in the years ahead.
At the conclusion of the tour, the group reconvened to discuss how they could take their experiences back to their classrooms.
