ST. MARYS — A Weedville man and woman have been charged in district court after allegedly failing to secure their residence, which allowed a minor child to leave the residence and cross a busy Route 555.
Rosalind Amanda-Louise Gursky, 23, and Cody Allen Moore, 26, have both been charged with a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of children after the incident, which occurred on Sept. 8.
According to Cpl. Allen Brothers of Ridgway-based state police, on Sept. 8, Gursky and Moore were sleeping in their residence, located at 2885 River Road in Weedville, when a minor child left the residence and walked across Route 555 on a severe corner in the roadway before being discovered by a passing motorist.
“Gursky (and Moore) did knowingly endanger the welfare of said child by violating a duty of care, protection or support, namely by not providing proper parental protection,” Brothers said in each individual’s affidavit of probable cause.
While Moore is only charged with the one misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of children, Gursky is also charged with a misdemeanor count of contempt for violation of order or agreement.
Brothers said Gursky violated an active protection from abuse agreement that lists Moore and a minor as protected parties.
The charges against both individuals have been filed in the office of Magisterial District Judge Mark S. Jacob.
Both individuals are scheduled to appear before Jacob at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 1 for a preliminary hearing.
Online court documents do not list an attorney for Moore or Gursky.
The Elk County District Attorney’s Office is representing the commonwealth in both cases.
