The organizers of Ali’s House of New Beginnings, a sober house for women in Bradford, need a little help from the community before they can open their doors.

“We are looking for donations as well as volunteers to help get the house open,” said Executive Director Trina Rickard, who added they hope to open the house on Sept. 1. Volunteers — or team members — are also needed once the house is open at 22 Hobson Place.

“This is a community project. We need to come together to make this possible,” Rickard said.

Starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Ali’s House workers will be at 22 Hobson Place to accept donations. They will be there until about 5 p.m.

“We are asking for all the people who want to volunteer in all areas to please come. This is very exciting time for Bradford,” Rickard said.

In addition to volunteers, they need a variety of household items. They are: Six twin beds; six night stands; six dressers; bedding (sheets, blankets, comforters); kitchen flooring; bathroom faucet; toilet with wax seal; kitchen needs (pots, pans, silverware, bowls, plates); lamps; living room end tables and coffee table; bath towels and washclothes; soap products, shampoo, conditioner, laundry soap, bleach; and cleaning products.
