LEWIS RUN — Several roads in Lewis Run will be repaired in the coming months.
During a meeting held Tuesday evening, the Lewis Run Borough Council hired P.V. Paving of Bradford to handle repair work on Lincoln Drive, Valley Hunt Drive, Irvine Street and West Irvine Street in the amount of $5,000-$6,000.
After the meeting Council President Irv Swartz said the minor road work would take place in the coming months and involves patching holes.
Council also approved seeking quotes to clean out ditches along JFK Drive.
Councilwoman Dianna DeCasper said three residents, including herself, are concerned that if three ditches aren’t cleaned out along JFK Drive, flooding could occur. Councilman Joe Cucuzza said he figures it has been 10 years since work has been done to the ditches.
“It’s just something we have to do a little bit at a time,” Cucuzza said, adding that as complaints roll in, they can be addressed.
Also at the meeting, it was announced that a countywide tire recycling event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon July 23 at the Smethport Borough sheds on U.S. Route 6, sponsored by PA CleanWays of McKean County, an affiliate of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.
Cost is $1 per car or light-duty truck tire; and $2.25 per tractor-trailer type or race-car tire.
People must prepay at the McKean County Penn State Extension Office, which can be reached at 814-887-5613 by the end of the day Friday.
Also during the meeting, Dave Guthrie was introduced as a public works employee. He was hired at a borough meeting in June. At that same meeting, council had accepted the resignation of public works employee Tom Lockwood.
