PORT ALLEGANY — Port Allegany High School’s athletes of the year were presented to Nate Lowery, McKaila Daniels and Mac Tanner.
Lowery and Daniels received the Bob Davies-Lou Foy Student Athlete Awards.
Daniels also received the David Lacher Memorial Award/Female Athlete of the Year Award.
Tanner was presented with Thomas Taylor Memorial Award/Male Athlete of the Year Award.
Lowery is the son of Scott and Kathy Lowery. He wore No. 56 and has played football six years, lettering four times. He served as captain this year.
He was a one-year letterman for the track team, has been a member of the Student Council for six years, serving two years as treasurer and vice-president for four years. He is a member of the Entrepreneurship Club for two years, serving as treasurer for one year.
Lowery served as vice president of his class for one year, has been a member of the Spanish Club for two years, the Varsity Club for three years, a two-year member of the National Honor Society, a six-year member of the chorus, a four-year member of the Show Choir and a one-year member of the Athletes. He was selected to the 2014 AML football all-star team. He plans to attend Penn State, majoring in chemical engineering.
Daniels is the daughter of Will and Theresa Daniels. She has played softball for 11 years and varsity softball for four years, lettering all four years. She has served as co-captain for two years.
Daniels played volleyball for six years, lettering three of those years and served as captain her senior year. She played basketball for three years. She was recently nominated for the Big 30 Student Athlete and The Times Herald Davies-Foy Memorial Award. She is the president of the Varsity Club and has been an active member for four years.
Daniels was recently accepted into the pre-dental program at Penn College where she will obtain her bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene.
Tanner is the son of Jason and Jodi Tanner. He played baseball for four years and lettered four years. He was a Northern Allegany League All-Star one year.
He played football for six years, lettered four years and served as captain for one year.
Tanner wrestled five years, lettered three years and served as captain for three years. He was awarded the co-captain award, Rookie of the Year Award, was a district qualifier for four years, placing first one of those years, was a regional qualifier one year and an AML All-Star two years.
He participated in track one year, lettering that year and was a district qualifier in four events.
The presentation of these awards were made at the annual awards assembly held at the high school.
