Local optometrist Dr. Steven Cohen is retiring from his practice in Bradford, but the practice will continue to operate under new management.
The optometry office in the Hooker Fulton Building on Main Street in Bradford has been treating patients since the 1950’s. Cohen took the reins in 1974, and now Dr. Daniel Schott and Dr. Matthew Roscia will be peering into the retinas of patients for quite some time.
Schott started his career as an eye doctor after graduating from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (now known as Salus University). In 2004, he began working alongside his father, Dr. Edwin Schott at the family practice in Port Allegany. In 2008, he assisted Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport with restarting their Low Vision Rehabilitation Department, where he is still employed as the director. Schott became board certified in 2015.
Schott will continue his practices in Coudersport and Port Allegany, and adding Bradford as a third location, bringing Roscia into the practice to assist with the workload.
Roscia also graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2004, and is a native of Altoona. He has 12 years of clinical experience practicing in St. Marys and Altoona. He has spent the past 10 years working with the Altoona Ophthalmology Associates specializing in pediatric vision care and contact lenses.
Schott said that Cohen will continue to work with patients at the practice on a consulting basis. He said he and his staff are “very excited about the opportunity to carry on Dr. Cohen’s reputation for exceptional vision care to the Bradford area.”
