    Basketball Senior Classic is Sunday

PORTVILLE, N.Y. — The second Big 30 Basketball Senior Classic is set for Sunday at Portville Central School.

Similar to the Big 30 Charities Classic Football Game which is played each August at Bradford High’s Parkway Field, the Senior Classic matches teams of senior players from New York and Pennsylvania going against each other in a fund-raising event that benefits the Big 30 Athletic Fund, a source of scholarships which are given annually to selected Big 30 student-athletes.

The rosters for this year’s games are set.The girls’ game will tip off at 4 p.m. and the boys’ game will start 30 minutes after the girls’ game ends. At halftime of the boys’ game, four new members of the Big 30 Basketball Hall of Fame will be introduced.

The following players have accepted invitations to participate and they are reminded that they need to report to Portville Central by 2 p.m. on the day of the Classic.

Some players should take note of this reporting time.

Invited to play for the New York girls’ team, which will be coached by Karen Loucks and Bill Sprague, are: Rayana Anderson (Wellsville), Sarah DeCapua (Allegany-Limestone), Emma Doty (Portville), Allison Forness (Allegany-Limestone), Jenna Hicks (Franklinville), Amy Lorshbaugh (Wellsville), Allison Pacer (Bolivar-Richburg), Cassie Pensyl (Whitesville), Shania Platt (Pioneer), Brigid Taylor (Olean High), Payton Terette (Randolph) and Erika Wittmeyer (Pioneer).

Selected to compete on the Pennsylvania girls’ squad, which will be coached by Ann Nuzzo and Toni Frontino are: Kaitlyn Barackman (St. Marys Public), Rachel Bauer (St. Marys Public), Ashley Cizek (Galeton), Sydney Dyne (Kane), Mackenzie Gahr (Elk County Catholic), Addyson Gross-Benjamin (Smethport), Hope Howard (Oswayo Valley), Jerrica Kifer (Ridgway), Emily Morey (Coudersport), Brianna Siebert (Oswayo Valley), Ashton Watts (Johnsonburg) and Lee Woodmansee (Bradford High).

The New York boys’ team, which will be coached by Ron McMahon and Mike Moses, will include: Dawson Bielecki (Franklinville), Mason Bosley (Randolph), Jake Cavana (Olean High), Christian Churakos (Archbishop Walsh), Cole Davis (Allegany-Limestone), Liam Ebert (Wellsville), Simon Glogouski (Cuba-Rushford), Sean Harris (Portville), Adam Moore (Archbishop Walsh), Elijah Ramadhan (Olean High), Carter Schneider (Genesee Valley) and Seth Snyder (Whitesville).

And the Pennsylvania boys’ team, which will be coached by Doug Kosa and Lance Baker, will list on roster: Kevin Benson (Johnsonburg), Brandon Brabham (Oswayo Valley), Jeremy Breier (Ridgway), Brady Bauer (St. Marys Public), Tre Garzel (Port Allegany), Kyle Huff (Elk County Catholic), Darren Keglovits (Coudersport), Anderson Nicka (Austin), Tyler Nuzzo (Bradford High), Jordan Seefeldt (Port Allegany), Trae Smith (Cameron County) and Heath Stewart (Otto-Eldred).

Tickets for both games are $5 and will only be sold at the gym entrance. Doors will open at 3 p.m. and the Portville Sports Boosters will welcome customers at the school’s concession stand beginning at that time.

Handicap parking is located behind the school near a back entrance.
