SMETHPORT (EC) — Smethport Borough Council decided Monday to allow borough residents to choose their garbage service from three approved licensed collectors
Council said this is the fairest method for both customers and the companies and comply with the borough ordinance.
As reported by council, the three collectors and their rates are as follows:
• Smethport Disposal, 30 Gilbert Lane, Bradford, PA 16701, 814-598-1711 or 814-598-0975: Four bags a week, monthly rate: $13/senior citizens: $12.75; individual sticker: $1.60.
• Haberberger Disposal, P.O. Box 91, Mount Jewett, PA 16740, 814-558-4304: Four bags a week monthly rate: $19/senior citizens, $17; No individual sticker option available.
• Burdick Disposal and Container Service, P.O. Box 452, Smethport, PA 16749; 814-887-9217;
Four bags a week, monthly rate: $17/senior citizens, $16.50; individual sticker: $2.50.
If residents have already purchased TV Service stickers, Smethport Borough is allowing them to be used for the next two collection days, ending Jan. 15. After this date, the borough will exchange the TV Service garbage stickers at the borough office for those stickers of the new garbage collector of the customers’ choice, up to $1.75 per sticker, until Jan. 29.
Residents should contact their choice of collection company prior to this Thursday (Jan. 7) in order to have their garbage picked up this week.
