AUSTIN — Perry’s Country Store on Main Street in Austin will become the latest Village Post Office in the U.S. Postal Service Western District on Tuesday.
Officials said the Village Post Office is part of the Postal Service’s initiative to provide communities with expanded access to postal products.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place for the new Austin location at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Perry’s Country Store at 17 Main St..
The Austin Post Office — with operating hours from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Sunday — offers sales of stamps and accepts pre-paid packages. The office will also carry expedited packaging (free Priority and Priority Mail Express Flat-Rate boxes and envelopes) for added convenience in mailing packages.
Village Post Offices are operated by local businesses and offer popular products and services such as stamps and Flat-Rate packaging. The VPO concept was established in response to the changing mailing needs of the American consumer as more and more customers demand easier, more convenient access to Postal products and services where they are conducting business in their communities.
A Western Pennsylvania Post Office manager will officiate the ribbon-cutting ceremony with assistance from Perry’s owner/operator, Floyd Perry.
