KILL BUCK, N.Y. — Langworthy’s Diner, off Route 417, caught fire during the breakfast hour Saturday.
The fire is said to have originated in the kitchen, according to Anthony Ellis, assistant chief of the Salamanca Fire Department.
“The business was operational at the time of the fire, no one was injured and they evacuated safely,” he said.
Emergency responders received the call for the blaze at 8:25 a.m. and were on scene for approximately 4 hours, according to Ellis.
The assistant chief noted the fire was in the jurisdiction of the Kill Buck Fire Department, which could not be reached for comment, but said the event was likely a total loss.
“The whole kitchen is gone, and it spread into the dining area,” he said.
Damage to the roof and boarded-up holes in the walls of the building could be noticed from the road Saturday afternoon. The building’s entrance had additionally been taped off.
According to the Cattaraugus County Real Property Service database, the property, assessed at $79,100, is owned by G.L. Langworthy, LLC, formed Aug. 3, 2006, and based in Salamanca. No members in the limited liability company could be reached by press time.
In addition to Salamanca and Kill Buck, the Seneca Nation and Limestone fire departments also responded.
