St. Marys native, IUP’s Uhl selected by Mariners in 7th round of MLB Draft

Indiana University of Pennsylvania senior first baseman Ryan Uhl was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the seventh round (215th overall) of the 2015 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft Tuesday.

Uhl, a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, set IUP’s single-season and career home run records in 2015. He hit .415 in 44 games this season with 29 home runs, 74 RBIs and an OPS (On-base plus slugging percentage) of 1.621.
