The Pitt-Bradford swim teams wrapped up their tri-meet with Bethany College and Franciscan University at the Paul C. Duke III Aquatic Center on Saturday with mixed results.
The men’s team, facing only Bethany, defeated the Bison 101-83 to snag its second victory of the 2014-15 season. The women’s team, facing both Bethany and Franciscan, defeated Bethany 98-56 to earn its first win of the year. The Lady Panthers fell to Franciscan 95-90.
The men’s team won a season-high seven events beginning with the opening race, the 400 medley relay. The group that consisted of Corey Koss, Jeff Cattoni, Alex Renwick and Felipe Suntaxi clocked in at 3:42.17.
The next victory came by way of the 200 IM in which Koss blazed past the competition by nearly 12 seconds with a final time of 2:08.44. The 200 butterfly belonged to Renwick with a time of 2:06.48. He outswam his competition from Bethany by 34 seconds.
In the 14th event, it was Suntaxi’s turn to claim an individual win, this time in the 100 free. Suntaxi touched the wall at 49.43 mark, nearly six seconds ahead of the others. Koss snagged another win in the ensuing event, the 200 back, by turning in a time of 2:02.39.
The sixth win came in the form of the 200 breast, in which Cattoni turned in a best time of 2:22.64. His time was 11 seconds ahead of anyone representing the Bison.
The final victory came in the final event, the 200 free relay. The group consisting of Renwick, Richie Brand, Zack France and Suntaxi clocked in at the 1:39.26 mark to earn the win and also seal the overall victory for the Panthers.
The women collected a total of four victories on the afternoon that began with sophomore sensation Elizabeth Prager’s win in the 1000 free. Prager turned in a time of 11:36.61.
The next win came in the seventh event, the 50 free. Calli Cody outswam all competitors on her way to a first place finish with a time of 29.29, 0.3 seconds ahead of Franciscan’s Kellie Rankin.
The Lady Panthers’ next win was in the 200 back, where Camille Follman clocked in at 2:25.06 to earn her sole victory of the day. The final win came in the 200 free relay.
Alyssa Vanasco, Prager, Rachel Piselli and Cody turned in a time of 2:03.51, just 0.2 ahead of Franciscan’s time of 2:03.75.
The Panther swim teams are back in the pool on Saturday. The squads travel to St. Aurora, N.Y., to face Wells at 1 p.m.
