Gas prices continue fall across region

PITTSBURGH — Bradford motorists are paying an average of $2.707 a gallon for unleaded, self-serve gasoline this week, according to the American Automobile Association’s Fuel Gauge Report.

Elsewhere across the region, the average price for a gallon of gas stands at $2.559 a gallon, a drop of eight cents from last week. AAA officials said the nationwide average price is $2.20 a gallon — the drop in price for a record 102 days and the lowest average since May 9, 2009. Motorists closed out 2014 on a high note with households saving an average of approximately $115 on gasoline in comparison to 2013 due to relatively low prices at the pump. The average price for retail gasoline hit multi-year lows during the last few months of 2014 and is expected to continue to fall as we begin this year, AAA officials said.

AAA officials said barring any significant fluctuations in the price of crude oil, the average price at the pump is likely to remain below $3 per gallon this year, although prices may see seasonal increases this spring as refineries undergo maintenance, or this summer as demand increases during the busy summer driving season.

The following is a list of the average price of unleaded self-serve gasoline in various areas: $2.575, Altoona; $2.409, Brookville; $2.538, Clarion; $2.447, DuBois; $2.448, Erie; $2.598, Indiana; $2.576, Kittanning; $2.548, Meadville; $2.591, Pittsburgh; and $2.494, Warren.
