The Pitt-Bradford swim teams fell to the Washington and Jefferson Presidents on Saturday at the Paul C. Duke III Aquatic Center. The men suffered a 113-78 defeat, while the women dropped a 117-69 decision.
The men claimed a total of six first place finishes, but failed to make up points in the second and third place areas necessary to add to their total.
The 200 medley relay squad grabbed the first win of the afternoon for the Panthers in the opening event. The group consisting of Corey Koss, Jeff Cattoni, Alex Renwick and Felipe Suntaxi, finished with a time of 1:40.61, securing the win. That time was also good for a new school and pool record.
The new mark makes 13 new school records set this season by head coach Ed Bahan’s Panthers.
Suntaxi snagged his second victory of the day in the 50 free with a mark of 22.43. Koss picked up his second win, and Pitt-Bradford’s third, by taking first place in the 200 IM. Koss touched the wall at the 2:03.90 mark, nearly 11 seconds ahead of the competition.
The 100 butterfly belonged to Renwick, who outswam the competition by two seconds with a time of 55.67. Cattoni secured his individual victory in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.13. The final win for the men came in the 200 free relay with a mark of 1:32.89. The group consisted of Koss, Zack France, Renwick and Suntaxi.
The women’s side grabbed four wins for the day that began with Calli Cody’s victory in the 100 butterfly. Cody swam a time of 1:08.85 to notch the first place finish.
Catherine DeZort stole the 100 free over teammate over Hannah Crone by two seconds with a mark of 1:17.17. Camille Follman registered a victory for the Panthers in the 100 back with a time of 1:04.44.
Elizabeth Prager grabbed the final win of the afternoon for Pitt-Bradford in the 500 free with a time of 5:40.21. Prager defeated Washington and Jefferson’s Amber Miller by nine seconds for her lone victory of the afternoon.
“We had more records broken in our program today,” said Bahan. “The men set the school and pool record in the 200 medley relay, and the women set the school record in the 200 free relay. This makes 13 school records so far this season. Our team is beating relays from other schools that we have never beaten before.”
Pitt-Bradford is back in the lanes for the Fredonia State Invitational on Dec. 5-7, in Fredonia, N.Y.
