EMPORIUM (EC) — An Emporium man was set to enter pleas in two cases, but did not appear for court on Tuesday in Cameron County.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of John Paul Richards, 32, for failure to appear following his absence from a pre-scheduled plea hearing. His attorney, public defender James Martin, said notices were mailed out to both of the addresses on file as contact points for Richards, and he was unaware of any reason that would bar Richards from attending. Both addresses are located in Emporium.
The court knows of four warrants currently filed on Richards; three are from McKean County and one from Cameron County.
Charges lodged against Richards’ from actions alleged to have occurred on May 28, 2013 include two felony counts for crimes involving a designer drug, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts possession of paraphernalia.
In the second case set for a hearing, charges with a listed offense date of July 15, include two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
