Bradford airport granted waiver

On Friday, the U.S. Department of Transportation issued a one-year waiver, allowing the Bradford Regional Airport to remain in the Essential Air Service subsidy program.

Because of declining passenger counts, in April, the DOT declared Bradford airport ineligible for the federal subsidy, which guarantees commercial air service to rural communities.

Airport officials applied for a waiver, saying the falling passenger counts were due to circumstances beyond its control — poor service and canceled flights from carrier Silver Airways. On Friday, Bradford’s and 11 other airports’ requests were granted.

More details in Saturday’s Era.
