The Bradford Gun Club hosted the three-day W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co. ATA registered trap shoot over the Labor Day weekend.
Despite some rainy weather Sunday, the participation generally increased. This annual event once again was the largest trap shoot held at the BGC this year.
Claiming the High-All-Around (HAA) on the 400 championship targets was Steve Stedman of East Palestine, Ohio, with a 389 X 400. Stedman had a 196 X 200 in the singles, a 96 X 100 in the handicap and a 97 X 100 in the doubles event. Three targets back with a 386 X 400 was Tom Bomba of Cambridge Springs.
In Sunday’s singles championship, Mark Patton of Dryden, N.Y., had the lone perfect 200 X 200 to claim the top trophy. There were a number of shooters with a 198 X 200.
The Handicap championship event held Monday resulted in two shooters having near perfect scores of 99 X 100. After one round of shoot offs Don Goodenow of Espyville prevailed over Tom Rocco of Rural Valley with a 24 X 25 to Rocco’s 21 X 25. Stedman blasted the lone 97 X 100 in Monday’s Doubles championship event to claim that top award.
The BGC will host the Pennsylvania N.W. Zone Championship on Sept. 20-21.
This open ATA registered event will have trophies for residents and non-zone residents. The office will open each day at 9 a.m. and the day’s first event will begin at 10 a.m. On Saturday the program will consist of 200 singles targets while Sunday will feature 100 each of handicap and doubles targets.
Camp sites are available and the kitchen will be open for breakfast and lunch.
The BGC is open year round on Wednesdays from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for trap, skeet, 5-Stand and sporting clays practice.
The public is welcome and memberships are available.
