JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — Katie Renee Whelan, daughter of David and Lois Whelan of Bradford, Pa., and Bryce MacKenzie Cubbal, son of Gary and Catherine Cubbal of Yulee, formerly of New Wilmington, Pa., were united in marriage on May 2 at Casa Marina Hotel in Jacksonville Beach with the Rev. Grandstaff officiating.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a lace gown with a princess neckline adorned with a beaded rhinestone bridal sash and a rhinestone trimmed wedding veil. She carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas and peonies, champagne pink roses and white anemones.
Her attendants wore champagne satin dresses with a black lace overlay. Mindy Stormer of Bradford served as maid of honor, and the groom’s father, Gary Cubbal, served as best man.
A reception was held at the Casa Marina Hotel & Restaurant with music provided by McGee Entertainment Inc.
A honeymoon cruise was taken to the Bahamas, St. Maarten and St. Thomas on the Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Sea.
The couple will reside in Yulee.
The bride is a 2004 graduate of Bradford High School and a 2009 graduate of Clarion University of Pennsylvania. She is employed as a fifth grade teacher at Yulee Elementary School in Yulee. The groom is a 2005 graduate of New Wilmington High School and a 2009 graduate of Clarion University. He is employed as the assistant principal at Emma Love Hardee Elementary School in Fernandina Beach.
A bridal shower was given by the aunts and grandmother of the bride at the Westline Inn in Westline, Pa. A bachelorette shower and bachelor party were given by the bridesmaids and groomsmen in Pittsburgh, Pa. Wedding showers were given by fellow teachers at Callahan Intermediate School and Yulee Elementary School. An engagement party was hosted by Terry and Amanda Dlugos, friends of the couple. A rehearsal dinner was held at the Aqua Grill Restaurant in Ponte Vedra Beach.
