Harvey L. Golubock has received the 2014 Samuel T. Pees Keeper of the Flame Award for having deovted efforts to preserving the heritage of the oil and gas industry and bringing before the public the heritage and history of the oil and gas industry.

The award was presented during the Oil History Symposium held at the Pennhills Club in Bradford.

Golubock is the former president of American Refining Group and is current president of ARG Resources, an affiliated company and a crude oil producer. A resident of Bradford, Golubock has helped coordinate oil history anniversary programs and celebrations locally and as part of OIL 150, is a board member for the Penn-Brad Oil Museum, and is active in numerous community organizations. Golubock also gave the keynote address for this year’s symposium.  

The award was presented to Golubock by Lois McElwee of Oil City, who submitted the nomination. U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-Pa., provided a congressional resolution to Golubock as well.

Also receiving awards were long-time oilman Willard M. “Bill” Cline, who received the 2014 Colonel Edwin L. Drake Legendary Oilman Award, which honors a lifetime of achievement within the oil and gas industry; and Paul R. Plants, who also received the Colonel Edwin L. Drake Legendary Oilman Award, honoring his career since 1970 in the oil and natural gas industries.

The Petroleum History Institute is a nationwide non-profit corporation with the mission of pursuing the history, heritage and development of the modern oil industry from its 1859 inception in Oil Creek Valley to its early roots in other regions in North America and the subsequent spread throughout the world to its current global status.
