A Bradford man suffered a major head injury when the motorcycle he was driving was struck by a car around 5 p.m. Monday in Foster Township.
A car driven by James Gardner, 67, of Bradford, was turning around in a driveway at 301 Bolivar Drive when the driver looked both ways and did not see a motorcycle that was struck when the car pulled out into the roadway, according to Foster Township Police.
Gardner said he saw the driver of the motorcycle, Timothy Romanelli, 54, of Bradford, hit his windshield with his head, according to police.
Police said Gardner got out of his car to check on Romanelli and saw that he was unresponsive, but was able to find his pulse.
Police said they arrived on scene and observed that Romanelli became responsive to medical personnel by “moaning and trying to get up.”
He was transported by ambulance to the Bradford Mall parking lot, where a Mercy Flight medical helicopter awaited to take him to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, N.Y., for treatment, according to police.
