A Port Allegany woman is in McKean County Jail, charged with attacking her boyfriend with a hatchet early Thursday morning.
Katrina Bradford, 29, of Lower Portage Road, is charged with aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; simple assault, a first-degree misdemeanor; and two summary offenses.
According to court records, Ronald Rupert Jr., 37, contacted state police to report he had been assaulted at his residence at 12:25 a.m. Thursday by Bradford.
He said he was home sleeping in his bed when Bradford returned to the residence “after having been out drinking alcohol at the local bars.” He said she was upset and the two argued. She tried to hit him, but he pushed her away and attempted to leave the residence. Bradford picked up a “half hatchet/hammer” and swung the hatchet blade at him, he said. He raised his left arm in defense and the blade struck him in the forearm, causing a one-inch laceration, court records read.
Rupert fled the residence and called 911. Police said Bradford was located at the residence and was intoxicated; she was arrested at her home, court records read.
Bradford was arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Rich Luther and remanded to jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in Central Court on July 3.
