It was with great sadness that I read in the May 5th edition of The Bradford Era that the Pennsylvania Senior Little Tournament will no longer be held in Emporium, ending a 33-year reign as the host of the tournament.
I personally know the time and efforts, by many volunteers, it took to host the Pennsylvania State Little League Tournament last summer in Bradford and for that community to do it continuously since 1981 is not only a testament to the dedication of the Board of Directors of the Cameron County Little League but also to the town of Emporium.
I have had the honor and privilege of going down over the past several years and helping out with this tournament and I think it’s safe to say that a Pennsylvania Little League State Tournament, at any age level, will never again be held in the same area for this long.
To PA District 10 District Administrator Glen Fiebig, and all of his volunteers who have helped out with this tournament over the last 33 years, my hat is off to you for your dedication, commitment and everything you have done for not only the kids who have played baseball in Emporium and PA District 10, but also to every player who has ever played in your tournament.
In today’s world, dedicated volunteers like yourself are very hard to come by. Thank-you again from anyone who has ever had the opportunity to be a part of such a great event.
