MOUNT JEWETT — A hay production workshop will be held April 2 at the Barrel House Restaurant at the intersection of U.S. routes 219 and 6 in Lantz Corners.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Penn State Extension is holding such workshops this spring to assist farmers in producing a better hay crop in the 2014 season.
Organizers said for many, 2013 was a challenging year to produce quality hay. The meeting will address some of those challenges and present ways to ensure consistently high-quality hay. Penn State forage specialist Dr. Marvin Hall along with a team of field and forage crops educators will deliver the program.
There is a $20 fee, which includes lunch and materials.
Register by calling 814-887-5613 or visit the website extension.psu.edu/plants/crops/courses/hay-production-workshops. Walk-ins are welcome. Persons with disabilities who anticipate needing accommodations or who have questions about physical access may contact the Extension Office in advance of the program.
