Destinations-Bradford will host two gardening programs taught by local businessman and homesteader Jim Machuga.
“Planning and Preparing” will be held at 2:15 p.m. April 1. Organizers said with the session, participants can learn how to plot out a garden and what measures to take with preparing soil and beds. Meanwhile, “Planting Through Harvest” is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. April 8. Participants can learn planting techniques, appropriate climates and how to tend a crop until harvest.
Organizers said the classes — slated at Destinations Bradford at 1 Main St. — are in addition to the general outreach programs already in place.
Gardening can aide with healthy food choices, promote physical and social activity and help persons and families cut food expenses.
The classes are free and open to the public. Reservations are required as seating is limited. Contact Destinations-Bradford to reserve a seat.
