Zippo outdoor line sees uptick

Zippo Manufacturing Co.’s Outdoor line has been doing very well with the hunting and holiday season upon us.

Jesse Noga, manager of the Zippo Store at the Zippo/Case Museum on Congress Street, said he has “definitely seen an increase in sales due to the hunting season.

“Most of the hunters are from western Pennsylvania, western New York and southern Ontario,” Noga noted. “The products that have seen the biggest impact this season are those in the Zippo Outdoor line and Case hunting knives.”

He said the 4-in-1 Woodsman, which converts to an axe and bow saw and has a mallet and stake puller, has been a top seller this fall, “not only to hunters themselves but as gift ideas for the holidays.

“The cold weather has helped with sales of Zippo Hand Warmers for hunters and general outdoor enthusiasts,” Noga added. “Case hunting knives are also seeing a spike in sales as they are always a top seller this time of the year.”

Pat Grandy, Zippo spokesperson, said the company is currently marketing the Outdoor line in the U.S. and Canada.

“Of the products we introduced in 2013, the 4-in-1 Woodsman has been the biggest hit among hunters, campers and fishers,” Grandy said. “We are shipping the new Zippo Rugged Lantern this month and it has been very well received.”

Regarding the products that have been on the market for a number of years, the Zippo hand warmer is the best seller, according to Grandy.

“Sales have increased each year since we introduced it in 2007 and this season we are seeing extremely strong growth in the hunting and ice fishing markets,” he said. “Other robust sellers are the fire-starting products, particularly the Emergency Fire Starter.”

Other products in the Outdoor line include the Outdoor Utility Lighter, a Campfire Carrier and cooking items.

The entire line can be found at the Zippo Store in Bradford and Zippo stores around the world.
