COMING HOME: It isn’t every day that someone like Richard T. McCormack drops in to our office for a visit, but the prospect of something like that happening tends to keep us on our toes and happily anticipating what might be next.
If the name doesn’t ring any bells, don’t feel badly; we had to look him up on the Internet.
A few people here might remember him as Dick McCormack, from the Bradford High School Class of 1959. Others might recall his unsuccessful run for Congress in the 1970s.
Since then, he’s had a career at high levels of government and business that has been pretty much “under the radar,” as he says, but quite impressive nevertheless. He’s served in the administrations of presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan and George H.W. Bush, been the U.S. ambassador to the Organization of American States, a vice chairman of Merrill Lynch and later for Bank of America and is currently a senior adviser at the Center for Strategic & International Studies.
