MEMORABLE POEM: Leroy Hartzel of Kane wrote us about a poem he learned in school and has remembered ever since he graduated in 1973.
He thought we might be amused by the ditty because “it applies to a lot of life’s tribulations,” he wrote. Here it is:
Somebody said that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done and he did it!
“I never forgot the poem,” Leroy wrote, “but I’m unsure of the author.”
Thanks to the Internet, the title and author were quickly found. The poem is called “It Couldn’t Be Done” and has two more stanzas continuing on the same theme.
