1972 FLOOD: “It was in June and I was supposed to have my wisdom teeth taken out. It had been raining for a day and the water was getting high. Mom said that dad could drive me down to my aunt’s and we could stay all night to be at the hospital in the morning. We went down to Olean and could see the water rising in the flats and very close to the road just over the state line.”
