DOROTHY SHOFF: We will miss the kind words and sweet smile of
Dorothy Shoff who was a news correspondent for The Era for nearly
50 years. She passed away Monday at the age of 88. “This is Dorothy
of Duke” she told literally generations of reporters as she’d phone
in her school board stories, or reports on the Garden Club. She
never had a bad word for anybody. And, boy, she made the best
chocolate fudge in the world. No doubt, the community of Duke
Center will miss her, too.
