WE RESOLVE: “Volunteer at a place like the Friendship Table.
Shovel an elderly person’s sidewalk. Wave at strangers; the funny
thing about it is they usually wave back. Stop looking down at
people and look at them on the level and ask what you can do to
help them. Recycle. Realize that not all disadvantaged people want
to be part of the system. Realize that an armchair quarterback has
no credibility.
“Ask yourself what you can do to make Bradford a better
place.”
We’ve been saving that quote for just such an occasion as this —
the day for starting all those New Year’s resolutions.
It was said by Mayor Tom Riel sometime in 2010 and it serves as a
reminder that we all have a part to play in the community’s
future.
