LIGHT UP!: Be sure to turn your outside lights on tomorrow
night. The ELF Fund’s annual holiday bus tour gets under way in the
Bradford area at 6 p.m.
The annual event, which treats senior citizens from Bradford to a
bus trip around town to see the holiday lights, is held in
conjunction with the Bradford Area School District, Area
Transportation Authority, and the University of Pittsburgh at
Bradford.
Each year, approximately 200 senior citizens take part in this
special night of Christmas fun. As always, the tour will include a
stop at the Beacon Light holiday display at 800 E. Main St. which
is even more extensive and brilliant than last year’s.
Incidentally, something new has been added to that huge display:
Tune in to 197.9 FM radio as you drive by to see a synchronized
light show.
The bus trip, which concludes with a party on the Pitt campus, is
part of the annual Era’s Less Fortunate Christmas giving program
which is in full swing this weekend. More than 1,000 gifts were
needed to fill every wish this year, and “elfs” are busy wrapping
and sorting all those items.
The Bradford Era has been the sponsor of this Christmas program for
the past 27 years, and we have truly learned that it is way more
exciting to give than receive. Our thanks to the entire Bradford
community for making it possible.
