WOLF REPORT?: Steven A. Skok writes an e-line last week, “Has
anyone reported seeing a wolf-type animal on New York route 17
between the Bradford exit and Olean exit. We were traveling back
from the Finger Lakes on Sunday afternoon around 4:30 and 5 when I
saw the animal approaching the side of the road. At first I thought
it was a small deer, but then I noticed the bushy tail and canine
features. It was way too big for a fox and did not look like a
coyote, because of its size, rust color and shorter hair. It also
did not look like any dogs that I would know of.”
