SNEAK PREVIEW: Country superstar LeAnn Rimes is coming to
Bradford.
That’s the word from Shane Oschman, president of the Bradford
Creative and Performing Arts Center, who gave us a sneak preview of
this season’s line-up.
Rimes is famous for a lot of songs, but perhaps most memorably
for her first big hit, “Blue,” which caused a lot of people to
compare the 11-year-old with the big voice to the legendary Patsy
Cline.
Since then, she’s won two Grammy awards, including the Best New
Artist statue ever won by a country artist, and has sold more than
37 million records. Her song “How Do I Live” was the
longest-running single ever on the Billboard Hot 100, spending a
record-setting 69 weeks on the chart.
Rimes will appear at the Bradford Area High School Auditorium
Nov. 6.
Other shows “leaked” in the preview are “Drumline Live” and
“Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles.”
“Drumline Live,” based on the hit 2002 movie “Drumline,” will
feature a 39-member cast of performers in the show-style marching
band tradition of America’s top historically black colleges and
universities.
That performance will shake the rafters of the BAHS auditorium
Feb. 28.
And “Rain,” four guys who look like, sing like and play
instruments like The Beatles, will entertain fans at the high
school auditorium March 8. The group evokes the Fab Four from their
earliest mop-top beginnings through the psychedelic, long-haired
’60s — and it’s all done live.
So it will be a great opportunity to relive Beatlemania and sing
along with the “The Beatles” as they perform hits from “Love Me Do”
to “Hey Jude.”
By the way, Shane tells us this particular show will actually
appear on Broadway for 11 weeks beginning in October. But we’ll
get it right here. That deserves a “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.”
“We’re excited to be able to give groups a preview of three
shows in our upcoming five-show season,” Shane said.
The other two shows in the five-show season will be revealed and
subscriptions and single tickets will be made available in late
August.
Groups of 20 or more interested in buying tickets now — and
getting a 10 percent discount in the process — should call the
BCPAC office for details or check out the center’s website (and
e-mail address) for details.
