BROOKVILLE — Bradford High’s girls track and field team took
sweeps in the distance and throwing events and added two wins with
their relay teams en route to a 94 1/2-54 1/2 victory over
Brookville on Tuesday.
The Lady Owls, 3-1, were led by a trio of runners tripling,
including Brittni Wiseman, Liz Gardner and Myriah Wiseman. While
all three athletes ran legs on the winning 1600 and 3200 relays,
Brittni took the 400-meter dash (1:05.4), Gardner won the 800-meter
run (2:32.6) and Myriah paced the 1600-meter run (5:46.7).
Doubling for Bradford were Kacy Huston (3200 relay, 3200 run)
and Natalie Frisina, who single-handedly took two of the three
throwing events (shot put, discus).
“Natalie did well again and is developing into a very good
thrower. She got a lot of support from Shelby Runyan, who took
second in the shot put and discus,” BAHS head coach Larry Stillman
said.
“We had a very good performance from our distance runners. They
have been tough all year long. Myriah, Kacy and Liz got a lot of
help from other runners, in particular Alexandra Szczupak. She
broke her personal best in the 1600 by three seconds with a
5:52.”
Marissa Buchheit got third in the same race, and Maddy Forbes, a
freshman, had a personal best in the 3200 by 42 seconds
(13:06).
Bradford sophomore Emily Marshall won the javelin (92’10”) to
complete the sweep of throwing events.
“Chelsea Colosimo took second in the javelin with a personal
best of 80’2”. And, Katherine Moyer, a sophomore, had a very nice
toss in the discus,” the coach said. “She placed fourth and
improved 20 feet to throw over 80 feet for the first time this
year.”
“In the jumps, Brittni got second in the long jump, and Tashia
Carrow got third. Both jumped pretty good. In the pole vault,
Nicole (Teribery) jumped well again and remains very consistent
(first place, 9 feet). And, Amanda Franco and Mackenzie O’Brien
both had personal bests in the pole vault with Amanda placing
third.”
“Kate Visbisky took second in the 100 with a good race, and Erin
Frisina got second in the 200. In the hurdles, Marshall placed
second in the 300 with an excellent race with a personal best of
48.5. In the 100, Hilary Digel finished second in her first race
with a personal-best time of 17.7. Sarah James ran well with
third-place finishes in the 200 and 400.”
Bradford won the 1600- and 3200-meter relays, using a
season-best time of 4:22 in the 1600 relay to take the event.
“It was a very nice team victory,” Stillman said. “Really, it’s
the best we’ve looked all year. The whole coaching staff is pleased
by the way the girls competed tonight.”
The Lady Owls return to action Saturday at the Erie McDowell
Invitational.
