SOUNDS GOOD: Mary Williams of Bradford writes Wednesday,
“I still have strains of ‘Panis Angelicus’ and Handel’s
‘Messiah’ reverberating within me hours after attending the
Southern Tier Symphony Chamber Strings performance hosted by the
First Presbyterian Church. The event was billed as ‘Bach’s Lunch’
but for anyone who attended, it was truly a celebration befitting
Holy Week as the ethereal music of 12 violins along with
operatic soprano voices soared throughout the beautiful stained
glass windowed church. Bravo! to the musicians and all who made
this free gift to Bradfordians possible. They sure made my
Easter.”

PAST EASTERS: Sandy Fox of Cyclone also writes us an Easter
note: “I think it’s the 60+ people who love RTS. The piece from
Carol Harris about Easter tradition really touched me. It’s the
traditions of our older generation we miss so  much.”

“We were taught to honor our elders, country, religion and
anybody in control of our lives, such as teachers. We were taught
manners and they were important!

“We didn’t need money or things at all times. We were just kids
happy to have a summer off school. We were expected to behave and
do good in school.

“My memory of Easter Sunday is Sunrise Service with yummy
breakfast served after. We got dressed up for church because it was
a sign of respect and deserved extra effort on our part. One day
RTS will be just a memory because the 40 or so generation has had
so little of what really matters. They will have nothing to be
nostalgic about.

“Obviously we have ourselves to blame for allowing society to
rule our lives. Being ruled by the rod and staff certainly produced
a nicer generation. I’m afraid our kids and certainly our grands
are paying the price for our flower power and free love crap. They
say WWII Vets and The Depression era is the greatest generation. I
hate to think what we are going to be dubbed.”

COMING UP: Along with all those flowers popping out of the
ground in abundance, we hear the leeks are also becoming quite
evident on the forest floor. Jim Saxton called the other day to
tell us they were up about 2-3 inches in Allegany State Park. Given
all the sunshine and warm weather we’ve had this week, we’d bet
they are ripe for the picking.
