FIRST ONES: We have good news today and bad news. Good news: A
large flock of robins was spotted! Bad news: They were spotted in
Florida …

Kaye Campogiani phoned from Lehigh Acres, Fla., on Monday to
report a large flock of robins in her yard that morning. They
usually stop off for a few days — probably for re-fueling — and
then take to the skies again.

While we can’t say for sure they’re heading this way, Kaye did
tell us some of them were holding signs that said, “Bradford or
Bust.”

ANOTHER POND: Chauncey Kan of Panama City Beach, Fla., writes,
“If you’re from Cyclone, you’ll remember Cole’s pond for an ice
skating rink. What a great place that was.”

TODAY’S IDEA: The re-enactment of a murder trial from the early
1930s is planned for Feb. 18 at the McKean County Historical
Society museum in Smethport. We know — we read it in the
newspaper!

Kudos to the society for staging this re-enactment which will
feature an actual case from a murder which occurred in Kane. The
verdict will be kept secret until the audience has a chance to
weigh in on the defendant’s guilt or innocence.

The legal work of Regis Mutzabaugh, who practiced law in
Bradford for many years, will be featured as part of the trial. In
fact, the trial is being dedicated to his memory. His son, Dick
Mutzabaugh, is still a practicing lawyer in Bradford and his
scrapbooks have been used as some of the source material for the
re-enactment.

The Historical Society has had at least one of these
re-enactments previously — a great idea to bring history alive.

We only would wish that they could squeeze in at least one more
performance of this trial — in Bradford. Surely, one of Bradford’s
historical or theatrical groups would welcome such an event.

In fact, how great would it be if other such theatrical groups
would take special performances “on the road”? Too often, much
preparation goes into a single performance whether it vocal,
theatrical, or even the fine arts.

Why not spread the talent around?

Just our thought for today. We’re very good at coming ideas that
we don’t have to follow up with any work!

If you have a good idea, pass it along.
