FOUR SEASONS: The answer is yes, yes, yes — The Four Seasons did
perform in Bradford in the early 1960s.

We’ve received quite a few responses to the question posed by
Joe Marasco who had just seen “The Jersey Boys,” so let’s get
started.

Kathy Harbaugh of Bradford writes, “I was a secretary at the
BAHS for Mr. Raymond Getz. The President of the Student Council for
the class of 1964 approached Mr. Getz to see if he would agree to
the Four Seasons coming to BAHS.”

“It was the last part of the ’63-64 school year, and the last
spring for the next two years at BHS. In the fall we would be
housed at School Street Junior High for 2 years while BHS was being
totally remodeled and a new auditorium would be added on. We went
two sessions a day.

“It took the whole year for the logistics for the Four Seasons
to come, to be worked out. The Student Council had to guarantee
$25,000 just to get them to agree to come.  So tickets had to be
sold and sponsors to be contacted to raise that kind of money.

“I don’t remember the final amount they were paid, but the Four
Seasons came the summer (July) of 1964 … I think. I also don’t
remember where they performed, maybe the football field as the gym
at School Street would not have been big enough.

“I worked with Virginia Dutka and Jeanne Greely, both have
passed away and can’t help me with some of the memories. Maybe
there is a class member from ’64 or ’65 that could add to
this.”

Frank Milks e-mails us from Ocracoke Island on the Outer Banks:
“The Four Seasons did play in Bradford and it was the early ’60s.
They performed at School Street Junior High. I attended the show
with Barb Piscitelli and her sister Diane.”

Anne Campogiani writes, “Yes, I remember the Four Seasons
playing in Bradford, could have been 1963 or 1964. I believe they
played at School Street Junior High. We lived on State Street at
the time, myself and some friends walked up to the school and I
remember standing on the street in back of school and watching
people walk in. I am going to see ‘The Jersey Boys’ show in
May.”

Much more tomorrow.
