TWO GIFTS: Two Christmas gifts turned up on our doorstep and
we’re looking for the rightful owners.

The wrapped gifts, for Destiny and Joshua, were first dropped
off at 209 Congress St. but the resident has no children by those
names and neither do their neighbors.

The packages include the holiday name tags only — no mailing
labels — and no further identifying information.

No doubt, they were left at The Era because of our involved with
the Era’s Less Fortunate Fund which provides gifts to needy
children in Bradford. We have searched our database,  however, and
can’t locate a family which would “fit” the situation.

So now we’re turning to you, our readers.

If you have any idea about the full identity or address of the
recipients, please let us know. It would be helpful as well if we
could locate the individuals who dropped the gifts off at the
Congress Street location.

WRONG SAVIOR: It’s the Cavalry, not the Calvary.

Reign and rein and rain. Fair or fare. Afoot or underfoot.
Affect or effect. Foreman Street or Forman Street. Seward Avenue or
Seaward Avenue.

Some things you always have to look up.

And when we wrote our Jan. 1, 2010, column about our one and
only New Year’s resolution, we  should have looked up the word,
“Calvary.” In case you don’t recall, we had suggested that the
people in this region of Pennsylvania should begin relying on
ourselves only — nobody from the outside — when it comes to
creating jobs and  developing a positive economy.

After all, we said, it doesn’t look like the “Calvary” is on its
way again in 2010.

While we would like to claim it was a Freudian slip — after all,
we might be way better off with a “Calvary” than a “Cavalry” coming
to our aid — it was really just a simple mental error.

We thought we’d write this little note — early in 2010 to get
the ball rolling quickly in the right direction — since we’re quick
to tease others who make these kinds of mistakes. We’ll try to be
more careful in the future.
