LOOKING FOR LINKS: Our saga about Christmas sausage made in St.
Marys has sparked some “feed”-back:

John R. Troha who lives in Hue City, Vietnam, and is the Zippo
representative in Vietnam, writes:

“I am here in Vietnam and I just read about my Mom and Dad
presenting the Christmas sausage as gifts to you all. I thought I
was homesick during the holiday season before I read this article
but thinking about the Christmas sausage has sent me over the
top.

“If I close my eyes and think hard enough, I can almost smell it
cooking. Maybe someone from Zippo USA can bring me a care package
for our Zippo Asia meeting in Hong Kong this coming March.

“If not, please enjoy and think of us over here in the land of
rice.

“Merry Christmas Bradford and a special Holiday Wish to you Mom
and Dad.”

He signed it, Love, John, Phuong, Tyler, Shawnee & Sundance
Troha.

BEST EVER?: We also heard from Katty Wehler in St. Marys after
our column appeared. She swears that her son-in-law Jim Hoffman of
St. Marys, who had lived in Bradford, made the best venison sausage
around.

We at Round the Square would be happy to sit as an impartial
judge to who has “the best” Christmas sausage in St. Marys. Of
course, we’d have to taste every sample to make a sound decision.
Be sure to include enough to get a good sampling!

Just kidding, of course. The Christmas sausage we got from the
Trohas was devoured quickly and with as little sharing as possible.
We don’t want to be greedy, though, and, after all, Christmas is
long past. Even having tasted the sausage only a few days ago,
though, we can feel John’s pain.

NORTHERN CHIC: Co-workers were all decked out in knee-high
winter boots worn outside the pants last week when Bradford dropped
into the single digits and snow started to mount up. When the snow
gets deep, style goes out the window. We may look like Cosacks but
we’re warm and dry. Call it “Northern chic.” (Salt optional.)
