RIDGWAY – Bradford High improved to 3-1 after a 19-54 girls
cross country win over Brockway on Tuesday.
Kacy Huston (2nd, 21:23) and Marissa Buchheit (5th, 22:28) led
the Lady Owls on the 3.1-mile course. The course is the same one
the District 9 Class AA and AAA championships will be run on (Oct.
31).
“This was a good experience for a lot of our younger kids,”
Bradford coach Bob Macfarlane said. “It wasn’t a favorable day to
be running with the wind and rain.
“Our kids did fairly well. We are progressing very nicely and
improving. We are having harder practices and turning our focus
toward districts.”
Myriah Wiseman, Lauren Bauschard, Alyssa Holsinger and Maddy
Forbes also paced the Lady Owls.
“Maddy and Alyssa are taking on a lot of responsibility,” the
coach emphasized. “I’m happy with their development.”
Adair Gennocro of St. Marys won the race (20:48).
The Lady Owls travel to Rochester, N.Y., on Saturday for the
McQuaid Invitational.
In the middle school race, Rachel Guyer of Ridgway won in a time
of 12:07. Leading Fretz were Sarah Eaton (3rd, 12:47), Jessica
Buchheit (5th, 13:14), Hannah Bean (6th, 13:26) and Melanie Bizarro
(8th, 14:25).
