Charges were filed Tuesday against a Bradford man who allegedly
tried to exchange explicit materials online with an underage female
between Feb. 1 and April 18 last year.

Charles Richard Frederick, 27, of 378 South Ave., was charged
with three counts of obscene and other sexual materials
disseminated to minors, a third-degree felony; six counts of
unlawful contact with minors, a third-degree felony; three counts
of open lewdness, a third-degree misdemeanor; six counts of
corruption of minors, a first-degree misdemeanor; two counts of
health and safety prohibited acts, a felony; one count of
possession of marijuana; and six counts of furnishing alcohol to
minors, a third-degree misdemeanor.

Bradford Township Police received a complaint from a resident
reporting that her 16-year-old daughter was being sought out by
Frederick, who was 26 at the time, according to the affidavit of
probable cause filed at District Judge Rich Luther’s office. An
officer interviewed the juvenile, who said that she and Frederick
had been chatting, e-mailing, texting and calling each other.

On multiple occasions, the girl secretly met with Frederick
without her parents’ knowledge, and he had come to their residence
to pick her up and invited her to his home at 117 Gates Hollow, the
records say.

The girl told police she also had sexual contact with Frederick
on several occasions and engaged in sexually-related text messaging
and online chatting. That allegedly included the trading of nude
photographs via text messaging, according to court records.

Police conducted a search April 18, 2008, of the Gates Hollow
home, and later analysis allegedly found that Frederick had
numerous pictures of young females, including the victim, on his
computer, court records say. There were also pictures of him and
other, unnamed defendants providing alcohol to minors during
parties Feb. 16, Feb. 23, and March 8, all in 2008, the records
allege.

The search also allegedly revealed nine packages of marijuana in
a bedroom shared by Frederick and his girlfriend, Kelly Byron,
according to court records.

Frederick was arraigned Wednesday afternoon before Luther. He
was committed to McKean County Jail, with bail set at $50,000
cash.

Frederick’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 15 at
Luther’s office.
