Monte Behan shot a 36-hole net score of 128 to win the 45th
annual James Matthews Memorial Golf Tournament at Pine Acres
Country Club on Monday.
Matthews was one of the founders of Pine Acres Country Club.
Winning the Class A division of the tournament was Brent Raabe
with 131. He was followed by Pete Pascarella (137), Gary Winner
(138) and Chace Farrell (140).
Gary Colby shot 139 to win the Class B division. Jeff Burgess
and Mark Smith tied for second with 140. Gill Hoffman was next at
141.
Larry Ralph fired a 134 to win the Class C division. Steve Moyer
(136), Joe Mangione (138) and Joe Goldthwaite (142) challenged.
Winning a ladies two-ball championship Saturday was the team of
Sue Raabe and Kim Borkowski with a score of 62. Cathie Ralph and
Minnie Stiver were second at 64. Joyce Stauffer and Peggy Stom took
third with 66.
Shooting net skins Sunday for the men were Moyer (hole 4), Brian
Larson (hole 7), Barry Snyder (hole 9), D.J. Morgan (hole 12),
Burgess (hole 13), Gabe Chamberlin (hole 16) and Dave Faller (hole
17).
A men’s and ladies flag tournament was held Monday.
The men’s victor was Winner (20th green). He was challenged by
Moyer (20th fairway), Raabe (19th cup), Mike Wilt (19th green),
Snyder (19th green), John Carls (19th green), Mangione (19th
green), Aaron Cobb (19th green) and Behan (19th green).
Winning the ladies competition was Marian Silvis (20th fairway).
She was chased by Barb Sankner (19th fairway), Norma Cavallaro
(18th cup), Stom (18th cup), Till Dittman (18th cup) and Stiver
(18th cup).
