SMETHPORT – After a three-day trial, a jury found Johnnie Gale
Lee guilty Wednesday evening of all charges in two child-rape
cases.
Lee, 44, of Mount Jewett, was found guilty of 12 counts of rape,
eight counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, four counts
of aggravated indecent assault, 12 counts of indecent assault, one
count of incest and two counts of corruption of minors, according
to court records.
Senior Judge H. William White of Venango County had not set a
sentencing date as of Thursday morning.
Lee was found guilty of various incidents that occurred from
2002 to 2008 in the Sergeant Township area, court records said.
Both victims were girls under the age of 13; records say that Lee
began raping one of the victims when she was age six.
The rapes were disclosed during a Child and Youth Services
interview with one of the children. The victim told CYS that Lee
sexually abused the two females together, inappropriately touched
them, made them bathe together and had both perform sex acts with
him, court records said.
Lee is also facing two federal felony charges relating to child
pornography. Those charges are for “receipt and attempted receipt
of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor” and
“possession and attempted possession of material depicting the
sexual exploitation of a minor.”
In 1983, Lee was sent to state prison for seven to 14 years for
third-degree homicide. While only 17 at the time, he was tried as
an adult and convicted for the Oct. 22, 1982, killing of
58-year-old Ann Hellmers of Port Allegany.
