Two fatal snowmobile crashes reportedly occurred over the
weekend – one in Cattaraugus County, N.Y., and another in Portage
Township.

New York State Police said Jeffrey Lattery, 47, was pronounced
dead Saturday in Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital, according to
reports.

Lattery had reportedly been traveling east on Nichols Run Road’s
shoulder, against traffic, when a westbound vehicle rounded a
slight bend and collided with his snowmobile.

Further information was not available at press time.

Also Saturday, an Emporium man was reported to have died in a
Portage Township snowmobile accident.

James Dominic “Nick” Guisto, 41, of 259 Alpine Way, reportedly
died following a crash at Crooked Run Road in Portage Township.

Emporium-based state police referred questions to the state
Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, which indicates
that the crash likely occurred on state park land.

DCNR representatives could not be reached for further
information Sunday evening.
