THIS, TOO: We can’t have the holidays without thinking about the
ELF Fund – the Era’s Less Fortunate Fund, a program which has
provided gifts to needy children and senior citizens on Christmas
morning for the past 25 years.

The Era has sponsored this program since 1983 when Bradford was
going though a “rough patch” in its economy. Needless to say, it’s
pretty rough out there again this year and we needed a record
numbers of gifts for our friends and neighbors.

Given the state of Bradford’s economy, we braced for a rough
year of contributions. But, you know what? We had unprecedented
community support. Day after day, we were dumbstruck (a very rare
occurrence for us) by the generosity of individuals, families,
organizations, and local companies. One man brought us ,2,000 in
cash.

Talk about the Christmas spirit!

On behalf of all the children and older people in Bradford who
have a gift or two under the tree this Christmas morning, thank
you. You, after all, are the elves in the Era’s Less Fortunate
Fund.
