MORE THANKS: Newsroom employees can relate to our next Round the
Square, an item submitted by Mary J. Williams of Bradford about one
of our downtown neighbors, The Grocery Stretcher.
Mary writes, “I cannot keep silent anymore about singing praises
for the Dwayne Zimmerman family and all they are doing for the
citizens of Bradford, Pa., and potentially the economic draw of
trendy tourism to Bradford via their The Grocery Stretcher store on
Main Street.”
She adds: “A bit of background – I once worked in Philadelphia’s
most ‘premier’ organic foods and product store ‘Au Natural.’
Therefore I am continually amazed at the top quality products … and
the exceedingly low prices that the Zimmerman family are offering
this area for ‘organic and life giving’ foods for our
community.”
“To top it off, it is just not the grocery stretching prices but
the shopping experience for which I am singing praises.
“Forget your old generic shopping list, for the food turnover at
The Grocery Stretcher is so high that what you purchased last week
is no longer available this week and one is presented a new and
varied cuisine leading to a better, healthier, varied diet
consisting of other products that, to me, appear sent from
heaven.
“Consider, for example, green teas, organic coffees, organic
juices (kiwi, strawberry, tangerine and mangoes), ‘roll’ butters
made from just cream and salt, gourmet rice, farmers butter cheese,
and delectables such as twice-baked pretzels and dark chocolate
covered apricots! Just last week I spied a face crème by ‘Weleda’
on the Stretcher’s shelf – made from biodynamic (organic plus)
herbs. The price? ,1.99 cents marked down from a whopping
,14.99!
“Dwayne and family also offer the public a co-operative – that
of buying by bulk foods from a premier organic food source (‘whole
foods’) at a less than retail price.
“So, thank you Dwayne and family. You most certainly have met
your mission to ‘stretch’ our food dollars and have brought
something really special to Bradford in the process.”
