PUPPY P.S.: Joyce Cline of Cline Oil Co. writes to tell us “the
rest of the story” concerning that litter of puppies left on the
door step of the McKean SPCA last week.

“It was employees from Cline Oil that found them,” she writes.
“The first one was found about 8 in the morning – hungry and
shivering. The SPCA didn’t open until 10 so they left it in my
office for two hours. Of course, the pup soon started crying for
something to eat. I couldn’t just ignore it so I rigged up a feeder
using a rubber glove and warmed milk.

“Bill helped me and we were able to get enough milk in the pup
so it fell asleep for awhile, then repeated it when the pup woke up
and started whining again. I didn’t know if feeding it cows’ milk
was the right thing but I figured the pup would not survive if I
did nothing.

“Meanwhile, Bill went out Harrisburg Run to look for the rest of
the litter, assuming if one was dumped there were more. He didn’t
find the others at that time but when our men were coming in about
4, another of the pups was in the road. So they stopped and started
searching and found the other seven.

“The SPCA was very grateful that we had rescued the puppies and
started right in caring for them.

“I just hope the person who did this heartless deed is shaking
(like the cold pups were doing) in his/her boots worrying that they
may be found out and prosecuted,” she said.

THE VILLA: Rusty Koelbel of Reisterstown, Md., passes along some
information and a suggestion:

“I saw a snippet on the old Roman Villa in RTS the other day.
Great memories with my parents at the Villa. Mr. Colella tending
bar with a ball game on the tube. Mrs. Colella making sure
everything was to your liking. Still the best prime rib I’ve ever
had!

“Dare I start an RTS run on restaurants of the past in Bradford?
Togi’s Old Barn and Caesar’s Cove are two more that come to
mind!”

We’ll take the bite (pun intended). Readers?
