SMETHPORT – Lauren Kinniburgh went 3-for-3 with five RBIs as
Smethport shut out Kane 11-0 in five innings of softball
Thursday.
Kinniburgh had an RBI double and a 2-RBI double for the Lady
Hubbers (7-0).
Also leading Smethport at the plate were Kayla Berlin with an
RBI single (2-for-3), Jenna Duffy, who went 1-for-3 with a 2-RBI
single, Bobbi Jo Mitchell who was 1-for-3 with an RBI single and
Emma Hahn, who was also 1-for-3 with an RBI single.
Diana Phalon whiffed 14 while walking none and pitching a
no-hitter.
“Diana pitched an impressive game tonight,” said Christine
Lightner, Smethport coach. “She really had them locked up.
“We also hit the ball well. The numbers speak for themselves. We
got a good win against a good team with quality pitching.”
On the mound for Kane was Kayla Swartz, who struck out five and
gave up 10 hits and no walks.
Smethport hosts Cameron County today.
