THE LIGHTS: Another reader vouches for those strange lights in
the sky. Lois Baker of Roulette writes, “I also saw the lights in
the sky on Dec. 12. I was driving at the time and pulled over to
observe them. They were to the north of Roulette and disappeared
over the hills. They were round in shape and seemed to be
‘shooting’ these bright balls of light.”

THE GENERAL: Louie “Corky” Galloway of Tucson, Ariz., has his
own story about meeting that famous general from Bradford. He
writes, “Mention of Gen. Faye Uptegrove and his encounter
half-a-world away with another warrior from our neck of the woods
brought back a vivid memory for this native of Bradford. As an 8-
or 9-year old, I attended a fly-in at the old Bradford airport by
then -Col. Uptegrove in a Bell Aircobra. I am not sure if it was
for a bond or recruitment drive. I think it was in the summer of
’42. It made a lasting impression for this young boy to see the
pilot and the plane up close and in person. Others might have more
details of the event.”

Can anyone tell us more?

SNIPE?: It’s not just Bigfoot apparently that responds (or fails
to) to sticks banging together.

Gene Allman of Dunnellon, Fla., responding to details of our
Bigfoot story’s as the top “weird” story of 2007, adds, “The
banging of sticks together in hopes of drawing Bigfoot out of the
woods – when I was at the Boy Scout camp near Farmers Valley in the
early ’50s, we did that. They called it ‘Snipe Hunting.'”

ZIPPO SIGHTING: Fran Rovito of Bradford writes us on Dec. 20:
“Martha Stewart had a candle maker on her show. He lit his candles
with a ‘Zippo MPL Candle lighter.’ Martha commented on how much she
liked the lighter. She then gave everyone in the audience a candle
and one of the Zippos.”

PET PEEVE: A reader writes, “Just a small pet peeve. With the
recent snow/sleet/ice we recently had, why do some drivers still
not clean off their car windows, except a tiny hole to see through?
Can’t they be stopped and fined for this? They certainly cannot be
in total control of their cars.” We agree. These drivers are just
asking for trouble.
