OUR CAFE: “I wanted to say what a wonderful trip I had today,
stepping back in time at the Kennedy Street Cafe. A friend and I
went for breakfast (which of course was delicious). The walls and
wainscoting may have several new coats of paint, the window
coverings may be different, the pictures on the walls reflective of
the past, the tablecloths and placemats have been updated, but it
was like stepping back 40 years.”

That’s the word today from Jill Alane Moore of Bradford.

“If that old tin ceiling could talk, the steamed up windows
would answer back.

“Oh, the people were all from 2007, the business owner around
the corner, the morning coffee klastch, the ‘counter jockeys,’
joking on their stools as the cook performs his art on the
grill.

“And the waitress, coffee pot in hand, friendly as they get to
us townies. In this fast-paced, technological, global, 24/7
society, isn’t it nice to know, some things never change?”

With Thanksgiving approaching, we thought this was an
appropriate note. How many of us take this sort of thing for
granted in Bradford?

Would you be surprised to know that the Kennedy Street Cafe
topped a list of tourist destinations in Bradford not too long ago,
and for the same reasons that Jill mentioned.

When you think of the hustle and bustle of some urban areas,
stop and consider how lucky Bradford is to have a place like this
little neighborhood restaurant.

BLACK CAT: Another report of a large black cat – as in “panther”
– and not too far as the crow flies from our last report.

It was a couple weeks ago now that Ed Schimp and his son, Brian,
were returning from a trip to Vermont. It was about 11:30 on a
Saturday night and they were heading home to Looker Mountain Trail
by way of Red Rock and then onto Summit Road.

As they went up over a knoll, they spied something on the
road.

Ed tells it this way: “My son was driving, and put on the high
beams. ‘Brian, what was that? Was it a bear?’ ‘Dad, it was a black
cat. Didn’t you see its green beady eyes and tail?'”

This “big-sized” cat darted in front of them, and caught them
off guard. Ed is sure now it was a panther.
